Tournament Policies

  • W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G - We want to strongly encourage the players to model their miniatures in a way that is fair to their opponent and is in the spirit of the game. We also encourage conversion work, that said if you have a conversion that might be questionable please email us with photo's of the model.

  • Battle Ready Painting - Gateway Open requires that all models in your army be painted to a “Battle Ready” standard. Here is a handy guide from Games Workshop! Models that do not adhere to this standard will be pulled, with no exceptions**. While We realize this might seem harsh, we feel like it is not in the spirit of the game to be played with models that do not have some level of effort put into painting the models. The Gateway Open will NOT pull models that we believe to be aesthetically unpleasing. Everyone paints at different levels, and aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder, however, models that are primed with 3 colors “dotted” on, are not in the spirit of the “Battle Ready” standard and are unacceptable. We just want everyone at the Gateway Open to have an opponent with a great looking army, and to respect all the attendees who put a lot of care into the painting aspect of our hobby.

  • Harassment - Harassment is treated on a case by case basis. That said any one found harassing an individual for any reason based on sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, or for any other reason we deem demeaning to the individual being harassed we will ask the person harassing to leave immediately without exception. We have never had an issue before and we hope to never have to use this policy

  • Refunds - The Gateway Open will issue a refunds up to 30 days prior to the event for any reason, no questions asked. Any requests after that will not be processed.

**We will not physically take your models off the board but we will ask you to remove them from the playing field unitl they reach the 3 color minimum**

  • Illegal Lists - The Gateway Open maintains the policy, if your list is found to be illegal on the FIRST DAY, we will handle the illegal list in two ways. If your list is illegal because of a detachment error, the detachment that is deemed to be illegal will not be allowed to be played, and you must play without those models in the said detachment for the rest of the tournament or be disqualified. Second if your list is illegal because of points error, the units/models that are not correct because of points will not be allowed to be played with for the rest of the tournament, and if you do not do this you will be disqualified. On the SECOND DAY if your list is found to be illegal in any way, you will be disqualified from the tournament, no exceptions. Upon either instances on either day if your list is illegal you are not eligible for any prize support

  • Cheating - If it is found that you are intentionally cheating in any way at the The Gateway Open you will be immediately disqualified and asked to leave.
